Financial Advisor

You've spent your career showing up for other people's children. You've stayed late, taken work home, and invested yourself in ways that never fully show up in a paycheck. If you've ever felt like the financial world doesn't quite understand what your life looks like, you're not wrong. Most advisors don't. Isidore Ogoussan does. And his connection to the world of education isn't a marketing angle. It's personal, it's generational, and it runs deep.

Isidore grew up in West Africa in a family built around education. His father spent 35 years as a teacher and school principal — a man who dedicated his entire professional life to shaping young minds and building his community from the inside out. Four of Isidore's aunts and uncles were educators as well. He didn't just grow up around teachers. He grew up watching them give everything they had to their students, their schools, and their communities, often with little recognition and rarely with enough support for their own financial futures. That image never left him.

Today, his wife Katherine has carried that same calling into her own career, teaching for over two decades and embodying every day the kind of dedication that Isidore watched his father model throughout his childhood. When Isidore sits down with an educator to talk about retirement, pension options, or financial security, he is not reading from a script. He is thinking about the people he loves most.

His own path to financial planning is as unlikely as it is inspiring. A passion for Judo brought Isidore from West Africa to Philadelphia in 1999 as an Olympic hopeful — a young man in a new country, competing at the highest level while working as a busboy to make ends meet. Over the years, he built a career, a family, and a financial planning practice from the ground up. He knows what it means to arrive somewhere with very little and build something worth protecting. That experience shapes every conversation he has with clients who are trying to do the same.

For Pennsylvania's educators, the financial landscape is uniquely complex. The PSERS retirement system offers meaningful security — but navigating pension elections, survivor benefit options, and the timing of retirement requires careful, informed guidance. Getting these decisions right matters enormously. Getting them wrong can have consequences that last a lifetime. Isidore works with PSERS members at every stage of their career — from teachers who are just beginning to think about the long game, to those standing at the threshold of retirement and facing decisions that cannot be undone. He brings both technical depth and genuine patience to those conversations, because he understands that what's at stake is not just a number. It's the life you've spent decades working toward.

Educators often tell Isidore that they feel behind — that they've spent so many years focused on their students that their own financial lives took a back seat. He never judges that. He validates it because he has watched the people he loves most live that exact reality. And then he gets to work.

Outside the office, Isidore's life reflects the values that draw him to this work. He is a devoted father to his twin boys, Luc and Henry, and his daughter, Rosine — and he coaches their travel soccer team, spending his weekends on the sideline doing the unglamorous, irreplaceable work that good coaches and good teachers have always done. He is fluent in the language of showing up.

Cooking is a genuine passion — rooted in curiosity, culture, and the joy of bringing people together. It connects naturally to his love of language and his ongoing pursuit of both Spanish and Italian, two languages he is actively learning. For a man who arrived in this country from West Africa and built an entire life through discipline and determination, the desire to keep growing, keep learning, and keep connecting with the world around him is simply who he is. Judo remains a constant as well — a decades-long practice that demands focus, resilience, and the humility to keep showing up even when progress is hard to see. Staying active in every sense of the word is not something Isidore schedules. It's something he lives.

You have spent a career investing in other people's futures. You have given your time, your energy, and your heart to students who may never fully know what you sacrificed for them. Isidore Ogoussan comes from a family that understands that gift better than most. And he has built his practice to make sure that when it's time for you to think about your own future, you have someone in your corner who genuinely cares about getting it right.

Isidore holds a B.B.A. in Finance from Temple University's Fox School of Business, along with his CFP®, ChFC®, Series 7 and 66 registrations, and Life and Health Insurance licenses.
